Disciplinary Procedure

NORTH Wrestling understands that whilst we do not employ anyone directly, we have a duty of care to all of the freelancers, volunteers, and independent contractors who work under our banner.

We are also keen to create a working environment where education and support are at it’s heart, encouraging positive and constructive change to individuals and our wider community.

The main principles of our Disciplinary Procedures are as follows:

  • We will deal with ALL matters impartially and fairly, and as soon as we are made aware of them.

  • The staff, volunteer or talent will be made aware of the nature of the claim made against them.

  • The staff, volunteer or talent will be allowed to make their case against the claim before a decision is made.

  • The staff, volunteer or talent have the right to be accompanied by a representative at any disciplinary meeting.

  • Any suspension or penalty imposed will be explained to the person in question.

  • During investigations, temporary suspensions may be upheld until we reach a decision.

  • There will be no dismissals in the case of a first breach, only in the case of gross misconduct.

Terminology

Misconduct is defined as, but not limited to:

  • A breach of NORTH Wrestlings Terms & Conditions and/or policies and procedures - as set out on our website.

  • Unacceptable behaviour or rudeness when representing NORTH Wrestling - this could be to fans, staff, volunteers, other talent or venue staff.

  • Intentionally harming fellow talent in the ring, not following the agreed match structure, or the practice of outdated Wrestling behaviours - receipts, stiffing etc.

  • Any unacceptable behaviour.

  • Continued lateness or poor timekeeping.

Gross misconduct is defined as, but not limited to:

  • Any behaviour that is deemed dangerous or reckless, and brings the safety of fans, staff, volunteers or talent.

  • Any serious breaches of NORTH Wrestling codes of conduct, terms & conditions or policies & procedures.

  • Any acts or behaviours that could cause serious offence, harm or distress to any fans, staff, volunteers or talent.

  • Any serious breaches of confidentiality.

NORTH Wrestling NCL reserves the right to apply their discretion to any situation presented to us.

Criminal Proceedings and Convictions

Any criminal proceedings, summons to court or convictions must be declared to Andrew Bowers as they occur, or at the time of booking.

Once we have received this information, NORTH Wrestling reserve the right to exercise discretion upon any action taken. This does not necessarily mean suspension or dismissal, unless in the case of domestic violence or abuse - as discussed in the Safeguarding Adults Policy.

Incidents that don’t require investigation will be dealt with internally by NORTH Wrestling management, and the parties involved. Any refusal of guidance and support will lead to disciplinary actions.
